Ta Da! Here is our project for this year's Vermont Shop Hop! It is 44"x 52".
All the credit goes to Judith for the design and piecing and to Andrew for the quilting. Way to go guys ! We call it "Step Up To Solids". We think solids will continue to make quilters very happy in 2012! You can get a free pattern for this quilt when you visit our shop during the Shop Hop, March 16th thru the 25th. Have you bought your passports yet? More shops will be posting their projects on the Shop Hop Website, so keep checking Here.
Looking forward to Spring... Martha Negley makes me want to sing and dance!
These colors are just bursting with sunshine! This is a Swirly Girls pattern called "Perfect Ten". I altered the design by repeating my favorite prints in the large squares. We have a kit for this at the shop. Call for pricing and we can ship. I didn't add the border on this sample, if you add the border, the finished size will be 60"x72". Andrew did a wonderful quilting job and the thread choice is amazing! Here is a detail... Too bad it doesn't show up well in this pic.
Here is a straight on view...
We had a very heartwarming Valentine's Day here at the shop. Our dear friend Steph got a real suprise when she came in to pick up a quilt. Her 3 daughters (on the sly) bought her the Juki Exceed 600 sewing machine she had been coveting for months! We wrapped the machine in a blue satin bow! Their Mom is a talented and generous quilter! She has tackled some very ambitious Kaffe Fassett designs and has gifted each daughter with the fantastic quilty results. This has been a tough year for Steph, healthwise and we are constantly amazed at her strength, caring and good humour, not to mention her sewing!
Steph is on the right in the silver vest (you can't see the tears). We then sat down and explored the marvels of this dynamo of a sewing machine! We can't wait to see what Stephanie sews up in the future!
Malka Dubrawksy has perfected the art of hand dyed fabric. Moda and Malka hooked up to create this new line of printed fabric that looks like her hand dyes! Wow are we impressed! We have ordered precuts for your sewing pleasure!
Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls, Charm Squares...OH MY! I have a "Tea Party" quilt on my To Do list using one of the jelly rolls. Speaking of the "Tea Party" quilt. We have some room in that class on Friday, February 24th. Here is a pic of the quilt I made last month using this great pattern by Sweet Jane's Quilting and Design.
Speaking of classes...Our Free Motion Quilting Class is full. Sorry! We will be scheduling another class in April. The April schedule is starting to fill up. Truddi Greene will be teaching her "Sunburst" block on Saturday, April 28th.
We love Truddie, she is a wealth of quilty knowledge that she shares throughout all of her classes.
If you have a few friends that would like to schedule a class or workshop here at the Waterwheel House in April or May, just let us know! What would you like to learn or brush up on?
Hope you all have a great week and get a lot of sewing done! See you soon!
Shelley
